I was a FTM, not second, But 1-2cm at 37 weeks, 2-3cmat 39 weeks, 3cm and 80% at 40 weeks. Labor was fast and furious. Water broke at 10:30PM, 8cm when I got to hospital around 1:00AM, 10cm by 2:30/3, non stop contractions, no break.As labor begins, the cervix starts to soften, shorten and thin (efface). You might feel mild, irregular contractions or nothing at all. Effacement is often expressed in percentages. At 0% effacement, the cervix is at least 2 centimeters long, or very thick. Next day at 39 weeks, I felt nothing. Took a nap and woke up at about 3:15pm with back pain and contractions.
