Kawasaki Mule 4010 won't run full throttle Please help. I have an 09 Mule 4010 gas engine. I bought it from an older lady who didn't use it for a year or more. It will crank and run at slow speeds about half throttle but will backfire and not run if I press the pedal all of the way down. I drained the fuel tank and filled with 92 ethanol free.New member. 4010 Mule surging. I have a 2011 mule 4010 that surges at low RPM. it idles ok at start but if i slowly accelerate it gets really sticky and surges. if I floor it it runs great. I have changed out the injectors and cleaned the fuel pump screen. You can try the old school trick of running the engine at full revs and closing the choke until it almost dies. Open the choke and let the engine stabilize. Repeat this process a few times. You might get some good results. If not, the only true way to effect repairs is to disassemble the carb and fully clean it.Move the throttle to the FAST position. Pull the PTO switch up/out into the ENGAGED (ON) position. NOTE: When operating the tractor be certain that the throttle is always in the FAST position. Operating with the throttle at less than full throttle may lead to premature battery wear and a poor quality cut.

These new engines of all makes are running so lean you can not running them without an air filter which makes it hard to do carb work on some of them. On some engines I have had to make a special filter set up to do carb work.
